You may now contact the Jackson County Friend of the Court (FOC) office by email. Since an email address has been created for the general public, it is no longer acceptable to send email directly to a FOC employee. Please remember, however, that your email will be processed in the same manner and time frame as regular mail. Email inquiries will not receive priority over correspondence received through regular mail. If a reply is necessary, it will be in the form of a letter, through regular mail. The FOC will not respond via email.

Additionally, the FOC office will not accept a change of address through email, since a written signature is required, when reporting address information. The FOC office’s "Address and Personal Information Change Form" is accessible via the "Forms" section of our website.

The public email address was created in response to State policy (Department of Human Services, Office of Child Support, Action Transmittal 2005-069), which prohibits FOC offices from sending email to non-michigan.gov email addresses, when restricted information is contained within the email. Restricted information includes social security numbers, Internal Revenue Service information, family violence information, or any other identifying information on a case. State policy also prohibits FOC offices from forwarding incoming e-mail messages containing restricted information to non-michigan.gov accounts, including County-managed email accounts. Michigan.gov accounts are highly secured State-managed email accounts.

To better ensure that the Jackson FOC has no confidentiality and/or security breaches with incoming email, a public email address has been created. In addition, the procedure noted above, that requires all outgoing written correspondence to be sent through regular mail, has also been created.

If you agree to the above,
